Aegerter 8th, Krummenacher struggles

24.08.2013

Fifteen riders in less than a second, positions changing with each and every lap: the Moto2 class is the most competitive on the Grand Prix programme. While the title fighter Pol Espargaró - second on the grid - gained an advantage over his rival Scott Redding, who is only 13th, Dominique Aegerter (team Technomag-carXpert) eventually lost a close battle against his country man Thomas Lüthi (8th) finishing in 10th position in this weekend's qualifying. The best Swiss rider of the 2013 season will be defending his provisional 4th position overall from 4th row on the grid on Sunday at 11:20. The day was a lot harder for Randy Krummenacher (22nd), a victim of two crashes in this important session.

Dominique Aegerter (10th): "I improved my starting position compared to previous races, consistency and pace are there and my objective remains the same: Top-5. And because the first three positions belong to this magic Top-5, we can expect many things from this race. Pol Espargaró, Nakagami, Rabat, Kallio and Redding are fast from the beginning of the season; the level of this class is extremely high and to be 10th on the grid I had to push hard from the start until the end. My ideal lap time equals 4th position on the grid so I know that I have the means to do well on Sunday."

Randy Krummenacher (22nd): "This wasn't the qualifying that I had imagined at all. With two new tyres I realised that the difference in behaviour of my bike was very important and I simply wanted too much. As a result I crashed twice but fortunately I did not hurt my right hand again. My two fractured fingers suffered in Germany hurt less and less every day, which is good and positive this Saturday. The race? They say that it should be cooler and rain may make an appearance at some point; in these conditions it is impossible to set a particular objective but of course I will do my best."
