Aegerter wants more, Mulhauser works hard

08.08.2015

Finishing the first day of free practice for the Indianapolis Moto2 Grand Prix in ninth position, Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten), was the fastest Swiss representative of the day in the American motorsport temple, the Indianapolis "Speedway". Despite a crash in the morning - due to a gearbox issue - Lüthi was able to get quickly back on track while his technical team succeeded a small miracle in repairing his Kalex. Really strong this morning and fourteenth overall today, Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten), also has a lot of work to do, but his consistency is already impressive. A good day also for the third rider of the Swiss motorcycle "Dream Team", Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten), who finished 23rd. A first summary of the second half of the championship with Fred Corminboeuf, the boss of the two teams: "A good start for Dominique. This afternoon we followed our work plan and unfortunately aimed in the wrong technical direction while the temperature also seriously increased. Domi is 9 tenths from pole and I know that he can do really well in qualifying on Saturday. Robin had a more difficult start but he made a step forward in the afternoon: we want him to step up in the second half of the championship so the objective is a Top-20 in qualifying and then the famous points in the race. As for Tom, he immediately had a good feeling this morning, he was on top when he crashed quite heavily; this afternoon he improved a lot of things. Now it is only to erase a couple of tenths that he loses in the sector, where he had the problem this morning."

They said...

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 14th): " When I went out this morning I needed three laps to find a good feeling with my Moto2 bike after the amount of kilometres that I rode in one week during the 8-hour race in Suzuka with a much heavier bike. Then, I found a good pace and consistency already: it was a good start this morning. In the afternoon it was more difficult, the heat got worse. I had the same pace like this morning but others improved. We need to continue working on Saturday in the third free practice to be able to fight for a good position on the starting grid in the qualifying."

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 23th): "For the first time in my career I stayed away from bikes the whole summer break; I worked on my physical preparation, mainly on a mountain bike. This is a good comeback for me: I made a progress throughout the sessions and in my last run we found a set-up that looks really interesting. On Saturday I would like to beat the 1'37 to fight for a Top-20 position on the starting grid. I should not be far off my first world championship points."
