Aegerter misses a good opportunity, Mulhauser disappointed with his day

02.04.2016

The winner of the Grand Prix of Qatar and the provisional Moto2 World Championship leader Thomas Lüthi (Garage Plus Interwetten) from Switzerland will start the Grand Prix of Argentina on the spectacular circuit of Termas de Rio Hondo this Sunday evening (7:20pm Swiss time) from the second row of the starting grid. Dominique Aegerter (carXpert Interwetten), whom we saw right in the front on Saturday morning, had a more difficult qualifying; his nineteenth fastest lap time will require a perfect start - which is the usual for Dominique - to stay in a good group. As for Robin Mulhauser (carXpert Interwetten), he moved up by two positions in the classification but did not managed to get a perfect lap. A sum up of the second hot day here in Argentina with Fred Corminboeuf, the boss of the Swiss structure: "Tom is on a very high level, his pace is interesting and I expect a great battle for the podium tomorrow in the race. As in Qatar, he will need a good start and then on this wide circuit, he will need to close the door for his rivals on the first two laps to place himself nicely for the final battle. With Dominique I will speak about a missed opportunity: this morning he was doing really well but the conditions changed in the afternoon and he was tense. He lost a lot of time in two places where the wind changed direction. But I have confidence in him for the race: a great start and he will be there. We have seen some progress in Robin's riding style but it did not reflect in his lap times. When one wants too much, it is easy to forget the basics. What is annoying is that once again we can see his potential, especially in the first two sectors. Unfortunately, he still struggles in one key corner of the third sector that makes him lose a lot of time."

They said...

Dominique Aegerter (carXpert Interwetten, 19th) "I am very disappointed. I do not know why we are the only ones who did not manage to do the same lap time as this morning; I was 7 tenths slower and it's bothering me that I do not have an explanation. The conditions changed for sure, the track was fifteen degrees hotter and the wind changed direction but we still have a lot of work to do with the team because this result is not possible."

Robin Mulhauser (carXpert Interwetten, 26th) "I had a good feeling yesterday but that did not transform into speed today. I did not manage to do what I wanted with the bike ever and at the end of the session, when I was about to improve my lap time a bit, another rider held me up. Then all of a sudden I was too tense. Grip was different compared to this morning but that does not explain everything. I know that I have to do a lot better."
