Aegerter like a boss in Indianapolis

08.08.2014

The first day of free practice for the Moto2 Grand Prix of Indianapolis (starting on Sunday evening at 18:20 Swiss time) finished on the same terms like the Grand Prix of Germany just before the summer break: Dominique Aegerter and the Technomag-carXpert team topped the time sheets. Second in the morning, first in the second session of the day, Aegerter impressed again with the level of his pace and his consistency on this historical circuit that has been substantially modified last year. For his debut on this circuit, the second rider of the Swiss team, Robin Mulhauser from Fribourg, finished 32nd.

Dominique Aegerter (1st): "I really like the changes that have been made to this track for this year; it is faster now and more amusing. I am very satisfied with my first day. But I know the weekend is still long. I have to concentrate on qualifying and even more importantly the race on Sunday. I know that I surprised quite a few people riding without a pit-stop this morning but I really had to learn the new secrets of this circuit and because I kept making small mistakes on each lap, I kept going to correct them all. When I saw that I was in the front, I was rather surprised. My first laps this afternoon were a bit more difficult but then I managed to increase my pace. We have started the weekend off with a base that works as well as in Germany, the only modification comes from the data of the gearbox that are different on every circuit."

Robin Mulhauser (32nd): "People told me some not very positive things about this circuit but I am surprised. I know that important changes have been made and all riders appreciate them. The asphalt is new, consistent, and the main modification in the layout of the circuit, the double chicane that takes us to the final straight, is now great to enter. I gained two seconds in the afternoon's session compared to this morning and the gaps ahead of me are not so large."
