Aegerter lacks confidence

28.03.2015

No miracles happened today under the spotlights of the circuit of Losail, close to Doha (Qatar): the time lost in the past six weeks - bad weather in Europe - could not be compensated for in only three days. 7th in today's qualifying, Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) will start the first Grand Prix of the 2015 season from the third row of the starting grid this Sunday evening. The remaining Swiss riders, same as in free practice, are more far off the pace between 24h to 29th position. Frédéric Corminboeuf, the head of CGBM Evolution which aligns Tom Lüthi as well as the two Technomag Racing Interwetten riders, Dominique Aegerter and Robin Mulhauser said: "Tom only just missed out on a second row start, what a pity. But he keeps making a progress, the team found a few little things on the bike again and I believe that we have made a step forward. Robin is on a good track but he has not yet caught up due to the first day that was a waste for him. And Dominique, honestly we have tried everything with the bike to find a solution for him but he simply does not have any confidence. A race will be good for him."

And they said ...

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 24th): "What can I say? We changed the set-up so many times but I can't find the right amount of confidence that I need to ride fast into the corners. We have a warm-up and the race on Sunday, I need to use them as a test, stay concentrated and as calm as possible. What to expect? I have no idea what I can expect from the race; the bike does not do what I want and given that, my job will be tough. Of course I can win a few places with a good start but then I am not sure at all if that will change a lot."

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 28th): "Difficult. I haven't made up for the time we lost on Thursday. I keep learning the Kalex, we are making a progress but I am still far off. I am looking forward to the race because I know that with every extra kilometre I feel a bit better. If I can stick to a good group I can move up in the classification. In Valencia I was 26th on the grid and I finished 17th; I have to keep that in mind from the start, that's the only way to hope for a top 20 finish in this first grand prix of the season. I want to have a good battle out there!"
