Aegerter in the front, Krummenacher also!

27.06.2013

Day one on the most traditional circuit of the world championship calendar in Assen, Netherlands, was disrupted by tricky weather. While it was cold this morning - 15 degrees air temperature, 19 in the sun - the track remained dry for the first free practice session that saw Dominique Aegerter finishing 3rd fastest as the best Suter rider of the day. Following his superb performance in the Catalan GP (6th position), his Technomag CarXpert teammate Randy Krummenacher finished in 10th position today with a strong performance also in the second session this afternoon, where he finished 5th on a wet but drying track.

Dominique Aegerter (3rd): "After the race in Catalunya, we went testing for 2 days in Alcaras (Spain). The first day over there was dry but the second was wet. It means we got a chance to do a big amount of work that paid of today. This morning I managed to do a really good last lap and I am satisfied with the package that we have in dry conditions, even though we still haven't approached lap times from last year - it is too cold. From now on I'm using the new swing arm from Suter that we had tried before and decided to put aside in Mugello. The bike is now a bit more flexible and it seems to be more efficient. This afternoon the track was drying with time, the fastest lane was completely dry at the end of the session and I certainly was a bit too aggressive as I expected more. But I will repeat it again - our package is solid."

Randy Krummenacher (10th): "We started this weekend in Assen with the same base that worked so well in Catalunya. From there we are making a progress step by step and under these circumstances I am very happy with my 10th position in dry conditions. That only proves our potential. This afternoon we sacrificed half of the session for setting up the bike in the rain and in the other half I had a blast. The feeling was great and I gave it everything. How have I changed since the beginning of the season? A lot in fact. First of all, I have more experience with my bike. And also my chief technician knows better the Suter. All this gives me more confidence and with confidence it is easier to push harder. In the first races I was more alert and was finding it difficult to immediately get into a good pace. That is not the case anymore."
