Aegerter in a good group, Mulhauser re-discovers Silverstone

29.08.2014

What is common about this place has been confirmed again on the first day of free practice for the British Grand Prix on Sunday at Silverstone - the weather was truly British. A few showers, a powerful, icy wind; the top riders of the Moto2 category remained more than 1.5 seconds off the fastest lap times of this fabulous circuit. 8th overall - 0.458 seconds behind the fastest man of the classification - Dominique Aegerter had a solid day, while his team mate in the Technomag-carXpert Team, Robin Mulhauser, enjoyed returning to a place where he has already stood on the podium in the European Superstock 600 Championship. Don't forget that there is a one-hour time difference between England and Continental Europe and the race schedule on Sunday has been modified: Moto2 will start at 11:20 local time (i.e. 12:20 Continental Time as usual).

Dominique Aegerter (8th): "It was strong wind that was bothering us this morning and some raindrops this afternoon. Temperatures were rather low and putting all of that together, we can understand why we are still far from good lap times. I am 0.4 behind the fastest, Top-20 is in one second; it is very tight here. We have to work on set-up on Saturday; in particular I need to find more confidence with the front on the numerous curbs of this circuit. Silverstone is one of the longest circuits on the calendar - 5900m - that means that we do fewer laps in each 45-minute session than usual and every mistake matters. However, the pace is there so I am confident."

Robin Mulhauser (31st): "Last year I was on the podium here in Silverstone but it was in a different category, on a completely different level. I have a good impression, my position (31st) is not the best but my lap time (2,5 behind the fastest) is encouraging. If we can go a few tenths faster, we can be a lot higher up. My podium in 2013 is a great memory but what is the most surprising about this is that Silverstone is not really my favourite circuit."
