Aegerter continues to improve, Mulhauser crashes

12.03.2014

The pace has become more competitive on the second day of the IRTA test at Jerez de la Frontera. And Dominique Aegerter, the Technomag-carXpert rider, was able to keep up with it. 8th overall like yesterday, the best Swiss rider of the 2013 season is only 0.585 seconds behind the fastest man of this winter test. He managed to improve by 2 tenths of a second compared to yesterday. The day was a bit more difficult for the "rookie" Robin Mulhauser from Fribourg as he crashed in the course of his third lap of the intermediate session. Even though he was not injured, his bike was damaged. Mulhauser was able to complete two more laps at the end of the day.

Dominique Aegerter (8th ): "We are not fighting for any championship points at the moment but it's always nice to say that we are making a progress. How to explain that? There are no big secrets. We are simply putting things together, one by one. Physically I feel a bit better every day, even though my shoulder that I had operated this winter still lacks full flexibility. The team is working really well and our co-operation with WP engineers is more and more efficient because we understand each other a lot more. Every year with the evolution of the chassis, and new tyres that we have at our disposal, it is important to find a good base for our work on which we can build. I believe that we have found this base."

Robin Mulhauser (27th ): "I fully assume my responsibility for the crash. I was behind German Cortese, I tried to follow him but I was a bit too optimistic. At one point I lost control of the front and went into the grass so there was no hope. I am ok but the bike wasn't."

Frédéric Corminboeuf ( Team Manager ): "We are engaged in a dangerous sport and crashing forms a part of it. Robin is a rookie, he has to learn. Of course we are not happy about the crash, but what I do appreciate about him is that he wasn't trying to find any excuse. He admitted he was responsible. This is the price to pay when you learn and I am confident that Mulhauser will make a good start tomorrow."
