Aegerter 6th in the final Grand Prix, Mulhauser very close to scoring points

09.11.2014

The 2014 world championship has ended today close to Valencia and the 2015 season is waiting with its first action at the end of March in Qatar! Sixth in this last race of the season, Dominique Aegerter (Team Technomag-carXpert) ended up finishing fifth in the overall world championship classification, completing his best season of his career (one victory in Germany, four podiums (3rd in Texas 2nd in Jerez, 3rd in Indianapolis on top of his glorious performance in Germany). After a spectacular start once again, Aegerter struggled in the second half of the race. His teammate in the Swiss team, Robin Mulhauser from Fribourg, finished the season off with his best personal performance (17th) completing one half of the race in the Top-15 that would have given him his first ever championship points. On Monday evening the team will meet again in Andalusia, accompanied by their new teammate, the winner of this Grand Prix of Valencia, Thomas Lüthi. The preparation for the upcoming season will kick off on Wednesday with the new German Kalex motorcycles on the circuit of Jerez de la Frontera.

Dominique Aegerter (6th): "I believe that this was my best start of my career today: coming from 11th on the grid to 3rd in the first sector, that is not bad at all. Then I was fighting with Zarco a bit before I lost a few more tenths during the collision between Maverick Viñales and Kallio. The problem was that Rabat and Lüthi did not wait for us. What was even worse, when I was closing on the fourth position, Morbidelli crashed in front of me and from there in the middle of the race I started to experience some problems with the front of my bike. I was not able to enter into corners the way I wanted anymore. I gave it everything; there is nothing I did wrong. But of course I do regret I failed to regain the fourth position in the championship."

Robin Mulhauser (17th): "I saw P14 on my pit board for a great part of the race. I told myself: you have got this, your first world championship points, you can give a nice present to all the people that have been behind you all season and who will not continue next year. I gave it 200% and when Louis Rossi overtook me I did everything I could to get closer but his pace was simply too high. Then I understood that there was someone behind me going 8 tenths of a second faster than me; I couldn't have known that it was German Folger, who crashed at the beginning of the race and was making a comeback. I finished 1,5 seconds behind the man, who scored the last championship point so I am a bit disappointed but I also feel a lot of positive energy: I am looking forward to the next season!"
