Aegerter, 5th, is smiling again; Mulhauser crashes in a bad moment

13.09.2014

Dominique Aegerter is feeling at ease again and this can be seen on the track and in the classification: 5th in the qualifying practice for the Moto2 Grand Prix of San Marino & la Riviera de Rimini on the circuit "Misano World Marco Simoncelli", the Technomag-carXpert rider is less than 2 tenths of a second behind the best time of the day. His teammate, Robin Mulhauser from Fribourg, started his qualifying off really well, after yesterday's rainy day, before a crash prematurely ended his second "run" about ten minutes before the end of the session. Mulhauser, who did not suffer any injury, will start on Sunday from the 35th position of the starting grid.

Dominique Aegerter (5th): "After the British Grand Prix we tested a few new things in the south of France and we made an interesting progress. Due to the weather conditions yesterday - it was raining the whole day - we were not able to confirm these modifications. That is what we did in the final free practice this morning, however, and discovered that what was working in Castellet, does not prove to be efficient here. We returned to our basic setup from Silverstone this afternoon and I immediately got my good feeling back. I can be fast, consistent; I am starting from the second row, where I have to be, so I am really looking forward to the race. Now everything is clear: the whole period of time when we were discussing our future was difficult for me. Now that this is over, my head is completely clear."

Robin Mulhauser (35th): "I was going to go out twice in this session and I was doing well in the first part but then entering the second corner I lost the front when I touched the brakes. What a bad luck because I felt good on this circuit that I rode on two years ago and where I could claim a lap time around 25th position. Starting 35th, I will have to fight like a lion."
