Aegerter (4th): Higher and higher!

21.03.2014

A few positions higher and mainly no more than 73 milliseconds behind the provisional poleman.: Dominique Aegerter (Team Technomag-carXpert) was a great contestant in the third free session in the spotlight of the circuit of Losail, the only session scheduled for this Friday. The holder of the second fastest lap time of the day, the best Swiss rider of the 2013 world championship, has certainly impressed a few with his consistency. His new teammate Robin Mulhauser, riding for the Swiss team owned by Fred Corminboeuf, lacked 4 tenths of a second to improve his lap time from yesterday. Saturday will hold the qualifying session at 16:55 Swiss time.

Dominique Aegerter (4th overall combined times of all three sessions) : "Lets keep our feet on the ground! This was a really good day, I was totally capable of keeping up with the best riders, I am consistent and that is really positive. But I still haven't won anything. Now we have to concentrate on qualifying on Saturday evening and mainly on the race on Sunday. At this stage we have tested the tyre for the entire race distance and the results are very positive, because I was able to cover more than the actual race distance with the same tyre and I managed to improve my lap times at the end of this long run. While the gaps are this small - the top four are separated by 73 milliseconds! - it is difficult to find extraordinary technical solutions. For a substantial number of laps I had the fastest partial sector times out there, which means that I was the fast overall. I feel like I'm ready. I never really liked the circuit of Losail, but last year, I felt comfortable there and I feel even better this week."

Robin Mulhauser (34th) : "A day to forget and it is completely my fault. I am probably a bit tired after the past couple of busy weeks but that is not an excuse. I really want to do well, but there is a little bit too much pressure on me and there has been no results so far. It's disappointing, I know that, but I also know that I am capable of a lot more. Today I really wasn't enjoying myself on the track and without enjoyment one cannot go fast. Now I want to get a good night sleep and tell myself that it will be a different story on Saturday."
