Aegerter (4th) always with the best, Mulhauser learns

16.05.2014

Dominique Aegerter (Team Technomag-carXpert) confirms, under the sun of Le Mans (Sarthe), that he belongs to the group of hot favourites in each race of the Moto2 world championship. On the first day of this weekend in Le Mans Aegerter was classified 4th overall in free practice, 115 tenths off the best time of the day. All the Top-18 riders are in the same second, which shows how competitive this category is. The second rider of the Swiss team, Robin Mulhauser from Fribourg is learning the French circuit; from all the participating riders he was the one who made the most significant progress between the first and second free practice of the day, improving by whole 2 seconds.

Dominique Aegerter (4th): "We are again in the leading group, obviously it's really good to start the weekend like this. But there's still a lot of work to do mainly in terms of the setup of brakes and grip. Personally I always used to brake late but on this track I am trying to change my riding style a bit to brake earlier to increase my corner speed. Anything seems possible again this weekend. My objective remains the same - a Top-5 in the race and if I'm on one of the first two rows on Saturday I will meet my target."

Robin Mulhauser (34th): "I'm learning the circuit of Le Mans. Looking at the photos, I had the impression that it was easier to understand that it actually is. On Thursday, Dominique warned me that the track is rather complex and I'm trying to progress step by step. Under these circumstances, the 2 seconds I improved between this morning and the afternoon's session are encouraging. What is the most difficult part? Certainly the first braking, "Dunlop corner", we arrive there with full 6th gear and exit the corner in 2nd gear. It's nice but I have to get used to it."
