Aegerter (16th) is ready to fight

26.04.2014

Having started the weekend really well with an impressive Friday, the Technomag-carXpert Moto2 rider Dominique Aegerter experienced many more problems on Saturday, struggling with grip. Finishing 16th overall today, he will have to start from the sixth row of the starting grid on Sunday, knowing that his position is not ideal despite the gaps being insignificant. The same applies to his teammate Robin Mulhauser, who will be closing the starting grid tomorrow but who has never been so close to his rivals time-wise. As we can imagine, this race will offer some interesting turnarounds as almost all riders have doubts about tyre durability for the whole race distance.

Dominique Aegerter (16th): "We tested some technical options this morning in the third free practice but they did not work. We therefore went back to our base that we had on Friday and I managed to get the same lap times as yesterday. But there, while I was able to improve by 3 tenths, others gained a second. I don't have to lose my head now: a great start, big battle and then we will see hoping that the tyres will last."

Robin Mulhauser ( 34th): "I am angry to be last on the grid even though I am quite happy with my lap time. I've never been so close to the pole (2,342 seconds) so it's really the position that drives me mad. With my first set of tyres I was able to get the same lap time like this morning but when I went out for my second "run" with harder tyres it was a disaster. I nearly fell ten times with zero confidence in the front. The last three laps were better. I have to stay calm at the beginning of the race because I think there will be a few surprises."
