Aegerter 13th with a destroyed tire, Mulhauser crashes

16.08.2015

A very successful start and impressive first couple of laps, fastest lap: Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) could not have asked for more at the beginning of the Moto2 Grand Prix of the Czech Republic in Brno, before he had to fight extremely hard to secure nine points for a seventh position with a destroyed rear tire. His colleague Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten) was also up in the front before he dropped down for the same reasons and finished thirteenth. The third rider of the team, Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten) from Fribourg, was a victim of a small crash that left him with a bruised right arm and ankle. The day was difficult for Frédéric Corminboeuf, the boss of the two teams: "Tom was feeling really god today, he had an extraordinary start and that is something he must remember. He showed that he was able to fight for the podium, even the victory, but then he started to struggle with grip; his rear tire lost grip very quickly and it is for us, the team, to understand why and to find appropriate solutions. Dominique had the same problem, although for him it started even sooner than for his teammate. We have to work a lot more because our rivals have the same material. I am a bit more disappointed with Robin, who had such a good weekend in Indy, where it was just us. Here in Brno we had many guests, he was finding it difficult to concentrate and he ended up crashing out of the race."

They said...

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 13th): "I am really disappointed. The weekend was really difficult. Although I qualified in 6th position on Saturday, I knew that I was past the limit there. In the race my tires worn out very quickly, I had to fight a lot to get a couple of points. I feel pain everywhere, in my arms, my back, it is an obvious sign. I like to fight a lot but not at this level."

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, DNF): "The weekend was really difficult. At the start I dropped the clutch lever, my bike jumped up and I had to shift a gear again; everyone passed me. I was far behind, my engine did not seem to work that well on the main straight and as I was trying hard on the brakes to gain a few positions, I crashed. At first I feared a rib injury but it did not materialise, I only have a few bruises on my right arm and one leg."
