A superb podium for Dominique Aegerter (3rd)

14.04.2014

After Valencia (2011) and Assen last year, the Technomag-carXpert rider Dominique Aegerter grabbed his third podium of his career in Texas today, where he finished third in the GP of The Americas in a breath taking battle with the leading group. After a disappointing GP of Qatar - where Aegerter had to retire due to a technical issue - Domi got his big smile back: "This podium feels extremely good," described Fred Corminboeuf, the team manager. The second rider of the Swiss team, Robin Mulhauser, was classified 24th and gained a lot of experience.

Dominique Aegerter (3rd): "It's always better to start from the front row. I was used to a gun shot start but here being on the front row it was a lot easier to get into a good pace quickly. After the free practice there was something in my head telling me that a podium was possible; it was all about avoiding making mistakes. In the second half of the race I started to experience some problems with the front and I was not able to brake the same like in the first laps and that was when Viñales and Rabat caught me. I was fast here already last year, this circuit suits me well and I am glad I could take it a step further. Physically my shoulder that underwent surgery this winter does not pose any problems; however, at the end of the race I could feel some pain in my right forearm. After the disaster in Qatar, my season has now started well. My objective for the upcoming races? Always the same, continue to progress with the leaders and show up on the podium as often as possible. A victory? Of course it is my dream like everyone else's out there on the track."

Robin Mulhauser (24th): "I had a good start overtaking an entire row. Then in the first corner I got stuck, some riders crashed and I had to brake and avoid the guys and bikes through the outside. All of a sudden I lost touch with the group in front of me. I stayed as concentrated as possible, even if it was not possible because the guys, who had been involved in the accident, re-joined the race overtaking and then falling again. Physically, it was a difficult GP; I had big pain in my left arm but I do not regret traveling all the way here: I learnt a lot throughout the weekend, I made a step forward, I did not crash, I finished closer to the group in front of me than in Qatar, there is a reason to be satisfied."
