Superb 6th for Krummenacher, Aegerter moves up in the championship

16.06.2013

The 6th round of the 2013 Moto2 Grand Prix championship in Catalunya will go down in history as one where three Swiss riders scored a Top-8 finish, two of which were the Technomag-carXpert protagonists Randy Krummenacher (6th, best result of the season so far) and Dominique Aegerter (8th, moving up to 5th position in the championship standings).

Randy Krummenacher (6th): "Things went even better than I would expect; after free practice and bearing in mind my consistency on used tyres, I was thinking about a Top-10 finish. Everything was perfect today: great start, and, above all, I got into a good pace immediately. I had a good position (7th) from the start and was able to keep up with the pace of the best riders. However, I was unable to advance, as I had to keep in mind saving my rear tyre. I got close behind Japanese Nakagami, tried to overtake him, but each time he saw he was approaching Redding, he pushed even harder. It was too much for me and I stayed focused on not making a mistake. I am extremely happy with this performance and my overall impressions are really positive."

Dominique Aegerter (8th): "I had a good start but same as in free practice and qualifying, I quickly realised that I did not have the same pace as the leading group. The whole weekend we were not able find an ideal solution for me and we still have a lot of work to do. On the last lap, I won a battle for 8th position against Kallio, Corsi and Pasini, all very experienced riders. And also I moved up one position in the overall world championship classification."
