Great comeback for Aegerter (5th), Mulhauser makes a progress

31.05.2014

Amazing Dominique Aegerter; we believed he was struggling on Friday on the first day of free practice, where he finished 25th on the circuit of Mugello, and today he is back on top. Fifth overall in the qualifying practice for the Italian Moto2 GP, the Technomag-carXpert rider will start from the second row of the starting grid on Sunday. The race is going to be exciting with 16 riders being split by no more than one second. 31st today, Robin Mulhauser, the second rider of the Swiss team, keeps making a progress on a track that, as we know, is rather difficult.

Dominique Aegerter (5th): "I am happier than yesterday. We did a lot of work with the whole team and we found some good things for the set-up of my bike. But the main thing is the rider. On this circuit in Mugello, one cannot brake too late but has to save the maximum speed into the large corners; that is not really my riding style. But I was able to get used to it. In addition, I signed my best lap times behind the leader of the championship, Tito Rabat, which helped me a lot. The race? If I am riding alone, I won't have the winning pace but I am sure, as that is usually the case, there will be a big group fighting for the lead. Therefore, anything is possible."

Robin Mulhauser (31st): "I had a good qualifying although the start was a bit hectic; there was a lot of traffic on the track and I found myself in a group with some riders doing strange things. I therefore quickly returned to the box to get my new tyre and when I went back out I ended up behind Dominique, who helped me a lot. I have 3 rivals behind me and I am only losing 2,7 seconds on pole position, which is good on such a circuit. What annoys me a bit more is that if I look at my ideal times - putting my best sector times together - I can see that there is still a margin to improve almost half a second. I am ready for the race and determined to fight with the group in front of me."
