Dominique Aegerter (4th) confirms, and so does Robin Mulhauser (20th)!

14.06.2015

For the first time this season, four out of five Swiss riders of the Moto2 World Championship will start from a Top-20 position in this prestigious category. Although the qualifying for the Catalan Grand Prix was dominated by the world championship leader Johann Zarco from France, Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten) also confirmed his great form today. Two weeks after his first podium of the season (3rd in Mugello), Dominique from Bern made a progress at the end of each session to eventually qualify in fourth position overall. His teammate Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) was classified tenth and will start from the fourth row of the starting grid while Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten) completed the best qualifying of his career with a great twentieth position. The boss of CGBM Evolution and the owner of the two teams summarised this hot day: "I have to point out that Robin had a really good session this morning and he confirmed that in the afternoon especially thanks to great team work with Tom. We know that for a long time that Robin is talented and what he has done today confirms that we had a reason to put our confidence in him. Compared to the previous two Grand Prix, Tom is finding it more difficult to find a good feeling with the bike although he made a big step forward this afternoon during the qualifying. We know that his starts are good now and I am sure that he can do a really good race tomorrow. Dominique confirmed that he is back in form. We have worked a lot since yesterday because this is the first time that we have such an extreme heat this season. The track is very slippery, the pace is higher than ever and I can imagine that tomorrow will be spectacular again."

They said ...

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 4th): "The position is good and what's even better is my lap time: I improved my personal best time on this circuit by more than one second, that's impressive. We made a step forward in each session and I know that we are still losing too much time in the last sector. We will work on that in warm-up. The race? The bike is sliding a lot, it jumps, it rears up, it is a non-stop battle and new tires lose a lot of grip after five or six laps. That means there might be a few surprises tomorrow. Personally if I finish in Top-6 I will have done my job."

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 20th): "This is a confirmation of the good feeling I had on Friday afternoon but that I did not manage to reflect on the time sheets. This morning we continued with setting up the bike with a used tire and as soon as I put a new tire on, I improved by a whole second. For the qualifying this afternoon I asked Tom if I could follow him. We went out together, I was holding onto him for a lap but I made a small mistake on the second, which was a pity because I could have improved by a few more tenths. 20th and 1,349 from pole, it is definitely my best qualifying in grand prix. I feel comfortable and I am really looking forward to this race."
