Aegerter will start from the fourth row in Malaysia

12.10.2013

Eleventh fastest in the qualifying session for the Malaysian GP on the circuit in Sepang, Dominique Aegerter (Team Technomag-carXpert) will start on Sunday morning (start at 8:20am Swiss time) from the fourth row on the starting grid. His team mate for the day, Malaysian Zaqhwan Zaidi, had a crash without suffering an injury in the third free practice session this Saturday before beating two permanent riders of the championship this afternoon.

Dominique Aegerter (11th): "I am simply not fast enough, I cannot find the right pace that I've been looking for and I find it hard to stay focused. I know that I am in a great physical condition, but mentally, these last couple of weeks have been very demanding. That being said, I am losing only 0.9 tenths of a second on pole position and I marked my fastest lap time riding alone; so with a good start "a la Domi", I think that it is possible to get a good result. But it is true that if we start a weekend losing a second on the fastest, as it was the case here, it is always difficult to erase this gap. For now, this weekend is far from being completed, the race will be very long and many of my rivals will be struggling with their rear tyre grip. Will it be essential to have a good strategy and save tyres at the beginning as much as possible? I'm not so sure about that. That is what I did two years ago and I realised very soon that what I lost at the beginning of the race I could not recover later on."

Fred Corminboeuf (team manager): "Dominique is disappointed but I am sure that his fighting spirit will be great in the race. If he has a good start like always, we will see him in the front. When it comes to our guest rider, Zaqhwan Zaidi, he started off the day with a crash this morning and in the afternoon in qualifying I suggested that he be patient."
