Aegerter will have a word to say in Misano, Mulhauser smiles again

12.09.2015

Under the sun and in front of a record number of spectators – the race on Sunday is sold out – the practice for the Grand Prix of San Marino & la Riviera di Rimini on the circuit of Misano shed light on the great performance of Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten), who will start from the fifth position of the starting grid. Aegerter has found all his feelings here in Misano, the day when his teammate Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) run into more unexplainable problems; 13th in qualifying, the winner of the French Grand Prix expects a make or break in Sunday’s warm-up, where he is going to change the set-up of his Kalex completely. The third rider of the Swiss team, Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten) also put everything together in the right moment. 25th in qualifying, the youngster from Fribourg was smiling again. And the boss Fred Corminboeuf was happy: “Dominique has all his confidence back, he is completely relaxed. We know his strength at the beginning of the races and with the excellent job of his technical team, especially in terms of the tires, we can expect a lot from him on Sunday. Thomas Lüthi struggles from the beginning of the weekend; he is finding it difficult to get comfortable, he is more tense and stiff on the bike than usual but we will find a solution. Finally I am very happy to say that Robin Mulhauser has woken up from a difficult first day and despite some technical problems this morning when a stone got stuck in his brake disc, I hope he can maintain this pace in the race tomorrow.”

They said…

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 5th): “This is a confirmation of what we saw on Friday during the first day of practice. As I expected, we would have to move up to 1’36s to start from the front row; I only just missed out but also I am sure that we will not be able to run the race at this pace. We have no big changes planned for the warm-up; the only question is what tires we are going to use. I have a better feeling with the softest tire and this morning I managed to cover a full race distance with it, which was even surprising for the Dunlop technicians. I feel ready and my objective is to finish in the Top-5.”

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 25th): “We had a really good discussion on Friday evening that helped me a lot mentally. I knew that these last weeks I was being questioned and this was the first time I had to face this. Many people wanted to give me an advice but today I only thought about myself and in qualifying I immediately had a good feeling. I only had one picture in my head: I was picturing the faultless riding style of Jorge Lorenzo. And being less aggressive I realised that I was going faster. I am also sure that there was room for further improvement if I could follow someone. So this is for the race. I was enjoying myself and I am looking forward to the hot Sunday.”
