Aegerter top Swiss rider, Krummenacher misses an opportunity

17.08.2013

Scoring the 12th best lap time in the qualifying session before the Moto2 Indianapolis GP, Dominique Aegerter marked the best Swiss performance of the day in his category of the most prestigious championship in the world. At one time 6th in the classification, the second Technomag-carXpert Team rider eventually finished only 17th, but less than 9 tenths of a second behind pole position. There were 20 riders in the same second in this qualifying with the British championship leader Scott Redding on the top.

Dominique Aegerter (12th): "It is hard. This circuit has very little grip and if you are a rider with a rather aggressive riding style, like me, it gets even more complicated. That being said, I refuse to blame my riding style for this kind of poor performance, although poor performance is a bit exaggerated given the fact that I am no more than half a second behind pole and I gave it everything from the first until the very last lap. My objective for the race remains the same - Top 5. The Indianapolis GP will be long. With its three different asphalts, this circuit is very demanding for tyres. I know that I will have to fight. But I am ready."

Randy Krummenacher (17th): "Physically, today was harder than yesterday for my injured hand. It is very important on this track not to ride alone to have a chance to scrap a few tenths of a second. And whenever we ride in a peloton it always entails some risk of further complications. That's exactly what happened with Jordi Torres in the course of my ultimate lap, while the intermediate sectors were suggesting that I could be in Top 10. Now I have to calm down and forget about this disappointment. My objective for tomorrow is clear - points. In the plural!"
