Aegerter out for a technical issue, Mulhauser learns a lot

23.03.2014

Dominique Aegerter will not join Italian Luca Cadalora in the classification of riders who have scored the most consecutive world championship points: the score of the Swiss rider remains to be 33 after the race on the circuit of Losail, near Doha, this Sunday. Once again a great start and a long battle for the fifth position was followed by a forced retirement on the 16th lap, where Aegerter's engine broke down. His teammate in the Technomag-carXpert Team, Robin Mulhauser, finished 23rd in his first GP and has significantly improved his lap times from free practices.

Dominique Aegerter (retired): "I am very disappointed with this first 0 after such a long time. Even more because there's nothing I did wrong. From the second lap, I had a funny feeling on the bike, the display showing my lap times was not working and there was something strange with the engine. I did not understand what was going on at first, but when I saw the black flag with my number on it, I stopped immediately. Mechanical failures form part of the race, but what is the most annoying is to start the season without scoring a point."

Robin Mulhauser (23rd): "I managed a good start even though the first meters of the race were rather difficult with a few passages through the outside borderlines of the track. I was fighting with Morbidelli, tried to get closer to him but his pace was too high for me. In the middle of the race I started to lose my concentration, I had a sore throat - cold - that was when my rivals caught me and I had to fight with them. From then on, I was loving the battle and I was able to increase my pace and keep improving my lap times until the last lap. This weekend was difficult but I learnt a lot."
