Aegerter off to a flying start in Austin

12.04.2014

Dominique Aegerter has already forgotten the disappointment following his retirement for a mechanical issue in the GP of Qatar: under the beaming sun of Texas, the Technomag-carXpert rider is on the go. Fourth after the first free practice session, second in the subsequent session of the day, "Domi" and a Frenchman Johann Zarco are the two men with Suter and WP suspension who have impressed the most on the circuit of The Americas, near Austin. Robin Mulhauser could not avoid the last position in the overall classification, trying to learn this difficult track, as the pace keeps increasing.

Dominique Aegerter (2nd): "Now we have to do the same in qualifying. But I don't want to put myself under pressure, I want to face this challenge without too much stress and let's say if I'm in the Top 10, it will be good. However, the end of today looks very positive. I have a great feeling with the bike, I had a good pace already this morning and was able to improve my lap time in the afternoon despite a small crash. Ricard Cardus from Spain crashed just in front of me in a slow corner and I thought I would be able to avoid him through the inside. That was a bit too optimistic and I ended up in the gravel myself as well. Luckily, nothing happened. This circuit has all different challenges one could possibly imagine and it suits my riding style very well; there are hard braking entries and first gear in five corners, which is not very usual and it's definitely challenging for some riders, whose riding style is smoother than mine."

Robin Mulhauser (34th): "I love this track, I'm enjoying myself, but it is a lot more difficult than in Qatar. The tract is extremely difficult, the pace of this class has increased again this winter and even though I am making a progress every time I go out, it makes me laugh when I look at the time sheets and there is no one behind me. I have not yet shown everything. We work extremely hard with the whole team and I am careful not to get sick with the air conditioning. It is nice and hot here and I am happy. And I will be even more as we progress."
