Aegerter not far off, Mulhauser is angry

13.08.2016

First mission accomplished for Thomas Lüthi (Garage Plus Interwetten): comfortable all throughout the free practice sessions on Friday, the Swiss rider was classified third in qualifying and will start the Austrian Grand Prix, on Sunday at 12:20, from the front row of the grid. The Red Bull Ring has returned to the Grand Prix calendar after many years. Very comfortable here in Styria, Lüthi is ready for a big battle, especially with the reigning world champion and the current championship leader Johann Zarco from France and a young Italian Franco Morbidelli. Showing his potential, Dominique Aegerter (carXpert Interwetten) will start from the middle of the fourth row in 11th position. Robin Mulhauser did not manage to avoid finishing 28th and last in this session. A sum up with the boss of the double Swiss structure, Frédéric Corminboeuf: "Great front row start for Tom, he confirms he has a great pace this weekend. Now he needs to finish the race on the same level; from now on the objective is clear: to fight for the podium and the victory every Sunday. Dominique is back in business; we've seen that since yesterday. We need to continue with this base, perfect the set-up of his bike and with a good start, "Domi" can make a really good race. Robin's situation is more complex: once again he is not able to put together everything that he is capable of. People only remember the race results, so he has to do what he can. Tomorrow I want to see him eager, he has to show what he is capable of."

They said...

Dominique Aegerter (carXpert Interwetten, 11th): "I was hoping for more than this 11th position, especially after the long run I did this morning in the third free practice session. The temperature was different between this morning and the afternoon's qualifying and that will also be the case tomorrow between the warm-up and the race. I used a new tyre in the final ten minutes and gained more grip. I was riding alone and I am not far off the second row. Although Zarco and Lüthi are very consistent in the front, I am sure that I can fight for a honourable position behind them. The decision we took three weeks ago to start using the 2014 Kalex was good, this bike suits me so much better."

Robin Mulhauser (carXpert Interwetten, 28th): "It is annoying again. The weekend started quite well but I missed it in qualifying. I was looking for a good tow for too long, I found myself behind Tom but I made a mistake. I had one last lap where I managed to do 1'30.8, which is 0.6 seconds behind Top-15. Unfortunately I am 28th and last, which bothers me a lot. I told my guys when I came back in that I assume my responsibility for mismanaging the qualifying session. Now there's only the race left and I am still sure that I can do something."
