Aegerter in the fast group, Krummenacher getting closer

14.09.2013

25 degrees air temperature, 37 in the sun, record lap times in Misano scrapped by the top four in the moto2 category: the qualifying for the GP of San Marino and la Riviera de Rimini was a spectacular show. Tenths overall, Dominique Aegerter is losing no more than 3 tenths of a second on fifth fastest lap time of this qualifying practice held by championship leader Scott Redding. Eighteenth on the grid Randy Krummenacher, Aegerter's teammate in the Technomag-carXpert team, has the pace to score points on Sunday.

Dominique Aegerter (10th): "8 tenths off the pole position is more than usual. My qualifying session didn't go to plan with an unscheduled pit stop to fix a broken footrest. The first four have been fast all weekend but then there are only minimal gaps. I'm not losing much on the fifth fastest and if I have a good start, I should be able to fight in a good group. I am always better in the race than in qualifying, I know exactly what to expect regarding tyre choice so the battle should be good tomorrow again."

Randy Krummenacher (18th): "This morning in the third practice I managed to complete really good laps riding alone; this afternoon in qualifying it was a bit more difficult. I have to say that with the whole team we have changed my bike's geometry completely to get back my good feelings with the front of the bike, which was the reason why I had so many crashes before. It already feels better and if we analyse these sessions here we can see that my pace is consistent, which is not necessarily the case of some of the riders who will be in front of me on the starting grid. Thus, my objective is simple: to transform this consistency into world championship points."
