Aegerter heroic after a crash, Mulhauser fights hard

31.08.2014

The day started very well for Dominique Aegerter, who finished 6th fastest in warm-up with fastest lap time than in qualifying yesterday. Then the comeback of the Technomag-carXpert Team rider ended when he crashed out of the race in the second sector of the circuit in Silverstone, having already gained 7positions in the first corners. Aegerter was able to rejoin the race and finish the British GP in 21st position, 6 positions ahead of his team mate Robin Mulhauser. With a damaged bike, Aegerter set lap times that confirmed he was ready for another big day.

Dominique Aegerter (21st): "I had a great start and then made a mistake while I was trying to attack Viñales on the brakes. He was in the good line, we had a contact and I went down. The bike landed deep in sand and I had to wait for the track marshals to help me get back on track. Then I was able to go faster than in qualifying so we did have a reason to expect a good result this Sunday. Unfortunately I made a mistake and I'm sorry to my team, my fans and our partners."

Robin Mulhauser (27th): "The whole weekend was quite difficult and I was really excited what the race bring. I had a good start and was in a group of about 10 riders including Salom and West. Then I lost contact with them when I was fighting with Herrin. Then on the final lap when Dominique overtook me I completely lost concentration: I did not know that he crashed on the first lap and I thought that it was the leading group. I was trying not to get in anyone's way before I realised my mistake."
