Aegerter has a good pace, Mulhauser wants a nice birthday present

07.11.2014

Everything will be decided on Sunday on the circuit de la Communauté de Valencia in Cheste that hosts the last round of the 2014 season this weekend. In Moto2 the title has already been decided in favour of Spanish Esteve "Tito" Rabat but the remaining podium places are not yet clear. Either Mika Kallio from Finland or Maverick Viñales from Spain (15 points between them; while the winner takes 25 points, second 20 and third 16) will take the silver championship trophy and also the fourth championship position remains to be decided between Thomas Lüthi and Dominique Aegerter - the Team Technomag-carXpert rider, who is only 7 points behind his future team mate thanks to his great performance in Sepang, Malaysia. Is he going to have the honour of being the best Swiss rider in the overall classification? In the first day of free practice today, Dominique Aegerter finished 6th, while his team mate Robin Mulhauser, who celebrated his 23rd birthday today, is getting back to the business after he was forced to miss the last two Grand Prix in Australia and Malaysia.

Dominique Aegerter (6th): "I am happy with my position but not so much with the gap. 0,7 seconds behind the provisional pole man is too much. I have a good feeling though. We still have one more day to work on the bike and if I qualify here - on the second row of the grid - I will be happy. The problems we are experiencing are minor. There is no particular place where I am not happy but there are a few small issues especially on the brakes entering the corners. I don't want to focus too much on this magic fourth position in the championship. I concentrate on my riding and we can do the math on Sunday evening. Two Swiss riders on the podium? If I win and Tom is third, I will take it!"

Robin Mulhauser (34th): "The sun, a circuit and a racing motorcycle: what else can I ask for my birthday? But that being said, my day was not easy. This morning I was finding it difficult to get back into riding fast after my two heavy crashes in Phillip Island and my serious flu in Sepang. I gained a second this afternoon, which is a good sign. Of course I dream about giving my team a world championship point for the last race of the season; that would be an amazing present. After the test next week I will return to Switzerland and on 19 November I will undergo an operation: my right shoulder that suffered double dislocation two years ago has started to cause some problems again and we decided to operate it to make it stronger."
