Aegerter not fit for Silverstone, CGBM Evolution invites Iker Lecuona

02.09.2016

No miracle will happen: Dominique Aegerter (carXpert Interwetten), who got injured last Friday in a motocross training accident (torn ligaments in his right shoulder and a cracked rib), will be forced to miss the British Moto2 Grand Prix in Silverstone this weekend. Despite that, "Domi" travelled to support his team and to witness the big debut of Iker Lecuona. This young Spaniard (16 years old), who CGBM Evolution has been supporting since the beginning of this year in the European Moto2 Championship, is an up and coming star, who Fred Corminboeuf and his whole team decided to help.

Having completed the KSP Sport racing school close to Valencia, Iker Lecuona went to the pre-Moto3 category, before he tried supermotard, successfully, as he was crowned the Spanish champion last year. He also raced in the Moto2 class for the first time last year in the European Championship (former CEV), where he is currently lying in sixth position in the provisional classification (he did not participate in the first two races in Valencia).

Finishing fifth on three occasions, including last Sunday in the second race in Algarve (Portugal), Iker Lecuona will make his debut start in the world championship this weekend on one of the most prestigious circuits on the calendar, in Silverstone.

Frédéric Corminboeuf (carXpert Interwetten and Garage Plus Interwetten team manager) explains: "We are delighted to welcome a promising youngster, who we have been following and helping since last year. We place many hopes in him. Iker will replace Dominique Aegerter in Silverstone; for the rest, decisions will be taken in due course. Should his absence last longer, yes Iker might also visit other world championship circuits in the next weeks."
