Aegerter flying the Swiss flag today, Krummenacher in the same second

28.06.2013

They say that something always happens in Assen. And many things have already happened since Thursday on this historical circuit that is geographically completely flat, and thus even the slightest deviation can have grave consequences. This is so even more if rain gets involved, transforming all demarcated lines into an ice ring. Precision is essential and even more when the differences between riders are so negligible. The first 21 riders of the Moto2 classification squeezed in one single second including the Technomag-carXpert duo Dominique Aegerter (10th) and Randy Krummenacher (20th).

Dominique Aegerter (10th): "Given the minimal gaps that are between us, there was only one solution: to push to the limit absolutely everywhere. I succeeded in doing so on the final lap, behind Rabat and De Angelis. I could have perhaps scrapped a few more tenths in the last chicane but the final outcome is still satisfactory. I know that there are many rivals who are really close behind but I don't want to think about that and want to focus on those who are in front of me. I will have to overtake some of them right at the start; I'm half a second off pole position, which is a lot but also not that much. The first three or four have shown great consistency so it won't be easy to keep up with them, however, my objective still remains the same - Top-5 in every race - and it's more important than ever."

Randy Krummenacher (20th): "I don't have much to say because I cannot be happy with a 20th position. We were simply not successful in this qualifying. We tried to fix the problems that we have been experiencing since the beginning of the weekend - difficulties in handling slow passages - but I have the impression that the situation has worsened. I'm losing almost a second so there must be something wrong that we have to analyse. We still have tomorrow's warm-up ahead of us where we can work."
