Aegerter and Mulhauser in thoughts with Luis Salóm
The first day of free practice for the Catalan Moto2 Grand Prix on Sunday on the circuit Barcelona-Catalunya in Montmeló was seriously affected by a terrible accident that took the life of a Spaniard Luis Salóm, who claimed a podium in the opening Grand Prix of the season in Qatar. The second free practice session was red flagged immediately after Salóm's crash in the corner number 12 and was not re-started again. At that moment, Thomas Lüthi (Garage Plus Interwetten) was 8th overall with Dominique Aegerter and Robin Mulhauser (carXpert Interwetten) 18th and 28th respectively. The boss of CGBM Evolution, the company managing the two Swiss teams, Frédéric Corminboeuf is shocked: "We are all in thoughts with the family and team of Luis in these difficult moments. In these circumstances we cannot speak about lap times, positions, small technical problems; we just have to be strong together and support our riders as much as we can."
They said...
Dominique Aegerter (carXpert Interwetten, 18th) "My day did not start well this morning and it finished in a very painful way with this accident that cost Luis his life. We are all thinking about him. From a technical perspective I am not where I want to be at all; everyone is struggling with grip on this circuit that is increasingly more bumpy. I am still far off personally. Although, I will repeat it again, this is not the most important thing today."
Robin Mulhauser (carXpert Interwetten, 28th) "I could not see any of this drama, it is a terrible moment. We cannot talk about the bike now, it is extremely difficult. My morning was complicated but the afternoon's session started better until the fatal moment."
