Aegerter (5th): another great performance

13.10.2013

Finishing fifth in the Malaysian Moto2 Grand Prix after the race was red-flagged the first time, Dominique Aegerter (Team Technomag-carXpert) has found his top form again; his latest performance reduced the gap between himself and Japanese Takaaki Nakagami, currently fifth in the overall championship standings, by 5 points. This has been already the thirtieth time in a row - placing Aegerter in third position of this classification - that Dominique scored world championship points. Young Malaysian Zaqhwan Zaidi, replacing Randy Krummenacher this weekend, who is recovering in Switzerland, was a victim of a terrible accident on the first lap that left him with a big chest shock.

Dominique Aegerter (5th): "My objective of being in the Top-5 in every Grand Prix has been attained again. I had two good starts but I was subsequently finding it very difficult to stay with the group that was fighting for the podium. After 8 laps my tyres lost grip all of a sudden; lack of traction on the rear, chattering on the front and it became very difficult. And as much as I was riding with ease at the beginning of the race, I started to be strained. I wanted to resist Kallio's attack so badly but it was not possible. Now I have won some points over Nakagami for the fifth overall championship classification and I am not prepared to give this up without a fight. Next week at Phillip Island (Australia) you will see me in full attack on a circuit that I love."

Fred Corminboeuf (team manager): "We know that Dominique is always better in the race than in practice sessions, and he's confirmed this once again with this great fifth position. Regarding our second rider, Zaqhwan Zaidi, he was lucky in his bad luck: in the horrible accident on the first lap, he could have ended up much worse, but eventually he didn't suffer any important injury. On the other hand, the bike is completely destroyed and for this reason we have immediately informed the Australian Superbike champion Daniel Falzon, who was expected to ride with us next weekend, that we have to turn him down. We are still not sure what we are going to do in Japan, but I really want to be able to provide a perfect bike for Randy Krummenacher in Valencia for the final round of the championship."
