Aegerter (11th) will start from the fourth row on the grid in Qatar

22.03.2014

Dominique Aegerter (11th) and Robin Mulhauser (35th), the two Technomag-carXpert Team protagonists were not lucky on their final lap of today's qualifying for the Moto2 GP of Qatar: while they both managed to set their fastest lap time (which would have put mainly Aegerter to start from the 9th position on the grid), their times were cancelled because of a red flag following an accident involving German Sandro Cortese and Mika Kallio from Finland. Sunday evening, at 18:20 Swiss time, Dominique will start from the fourth row of the grid, while Robin will start his first GP from 35th position. If he can finish in the Top-15 in the race, Dominique will join Luca Cadalora in the chart of riders scoring the maximum number of consecutive points in 34 races.

Dominique Aegerter (11th): "The wind was stronger today than on Friday, but as the front riders were faster than yesterday there's no room for me to look for excuses. Today it was me who simply wasn't the best. From the very beginning I had a funny feeling with the front of the bike. I could feel unusual vibrations so I stopped and we first thought that it was the tyre, however, we did not find anything wrong with it. In fact I was struggling to get onto pace, I probably wanted too much after my great session on Friday. Also if we start with the base that we have and with new tyres of course we expect more than what we can get with a tyre that had already done 20 laps. But that wasn't the case. Now the race is another story: I will have to see how everyone is able to cope with a full tank, I will have to have a good start and then fight. As always"

Robin Mulhauser (35th): "I was able to improve my best lap time from free practice already on my second lap. Soon after, unfortunately, I was finding it difficult to concentrate; since last night, I have a bit of a fever and I blame the air conditioning. When I went out on track again at the end of the session, I was determined to make an attack. It started to rain a little bit unfortunately, so I was playing it safe at first until Nakagami got in front of me. I followed him and improved my lap time by almost half a second. But this last effort of mine got cancelled because a red flag was out at the same time. It is a shame because today was a positive day, which did not translate into my starting position. What is my objective for the race? I want to fight in a group not to ride alone."
