Aegerter 10th, Mulhauser more than a second faster

14.06.2014

Third overall (together with Viñales) in the provisional Moto2 World Championship classification, Dominique Aegerter (Team Technomag-carXpert) will start from the fourth row of the starting grid (10th position in qualifying) for the Catalan Grand Prix on Sunday. In the extreme heat of an approaching storm, Dominique Aegerter was pushing extremely hard to secure his lap times without having solved his technical issues. Thirtieth overall, the second rider of the Swiss team, Robin Mulhauser, was more than a second faster compared to Friday and he continues to make a progress as a rookie of this World Championship class.

Dominique Aegerter (10th): "I am furious because I am only a tenth of a second off a second row start. The temperature was very high again today and I still cannot understand how "Tito" Rabat does his lap times. We were working from the first until the very last lap, this morning and this afternoon, trying everything we could have possibly tried but with no better result: we lack traction efficiency and it is a huge handicap on the triple right corner that takes us to the final straight. As soon as I get on the bike I give it 200%, today and tomorrow in the race. I've never believed in the strategy of saving tyres at the beginning of the race and in any case, no one really knows what tomorrow is going to be like weather-wise. My objective? Top-5 as always."

Robin Mulhauser (30th): "I was 1,2 seconds faster today than on Friday in the extreme heat again. I was hoping to get into a 1'48 and I was really close. Physically it is very difficult because we focus on long runs, which is the best way to learn, however, there are moments when it becomes difficult to concentrate. If we disregard the pole-man, Rabat, who beats everyone else by almost 6 tenths of a second, I am 2 seconds off the pace and that should not go unnoticed."
