50:50 for Aegerter, Mulhauser struck by a technical problem

29.05.2015

Two weeks following his first victory of the season, on the circuit of Bugatti in Le Mans (France), Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) started off his weekend in Tuscany, that will host the Grand Prix of Italy on Sunday in Mugello, in a great style. Tom has been on top from the begin showing his promising consistency for the race. Successful this morning, Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten) struggled with more problems in the afternoon, while his teammate Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten) was not lucky today as he was forced to miss twenty minutes of the first practice session due to a technical problem. Frédéric Corminboeuf, the boss of CGBM Evolution, a company owning the two teams, summarised this hot day in the following words: "Tom confirms that he has mastered his new bike; he wasn't lucky with the traffic on his fastest laps but the objective wasn't to take risks today in free practice. We are right there and in qualifying he will be able to fight to start from the first or second row of the grid, which should allow him to give us a great performance in the race again. Dominique's day was average, he was strong this morning but unfortunately he did not confirm that in the afternoon with different grip conditions due to the increased heat. Robin had a technical problem this morning, which cost him many laps. It was better this afternoon but we still have a lot of work to do with him in some key parts of this circuit."

They said ...

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 17th): "We started the day with a completely different base than we used in Le Mans two weeks ago and I had a better feeling. My position and the gap wasn't bad, unfortunately things got more difficult in the afternoon and I did not even manage to ride as fast as in the morning, unlike the Top-14. The track temperature went up by 10 degrees between the two sessions and we have to understand why the feeling from the beginning of the day wasn't the same."

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 27th): "An electronic problem forced me to miss about 20 minutes this morning. It was a pity because we had a few different things to try and we had to do this work in the afternoon. This circuit is very technical and difficult. Even though I was quicker than last year, I am still in a rough stage. It will come because with a tutor like Tom (Lüthi) I know that I have everything to do well."
